A note from the Councillor

Hello residents of Ward 13

In August, our summer of fun, food and friends continues. I love that I can find a fun family event every weekend in our downtown. Even with the construction challenges from our massive but needed infrastructure projects, our downtown events are full of Londoners having a great time together.
And though it is summer, please know that your city councillors and city staff are still hard at work. I’m always happy to help with your concerns and answer any questions you have.  I hope you can join us for good times in the sunshine during these warm August days and nights.

Please visit my website www.davidferreira.ca for newsletters, ward meetings, current city initiatives and other resources.

Regards,
David Ferreira
Councillor Ward 13, London Ontario

The City of London’s 2023-2027 Strategic Plan
Status: Comprehensive Review of The London Plan

The City of London is undertaking a Comprehensive Review of The London Plan, which will include a land need review and a policy review of The London Plan.

  • To conform with Provincial Plans
  • To ensure London has designated sufficient land to accommodate the long-term growth of the city
  • To ensure London has policies that implement the Key Directions and Vision of The London Plan.
Industrial Land Needs Review – Employment Land Conversion

City Council recently gave direction for Staff to solicit requests from landowners to evaluate Industrial-designated properties for potential conversion to other non-Industrial Place Types.  (See committee webpage, here: https://pub-london.escribemeetings.com/filestream.ashx?DocumentId=100675 )

Landowners can submit a request that their property be evaluated by the City for a potential conversion to a non-Industrial Place Type.  Map 1 – Place Types of The London Plan identifies Industrial Place Type areas (Heavy Industrial; Light Industrial; Commercial Industrial; and Future Industrial Growth).

  • Requests are to be received by the City by September 8, 2023.

  • Municipal street addresses are to be included in the request.

Evaluation criteria for the review of candidate sites are attached to this email for reference.
