Climate Change is that big growing elephant in the room. This is a global issue that requires efforts from every individual that has a carbon footprint. We are cumulatively responsible for one of the biggest anthropogenic footprints in our region of Southwestern Ontario.
- Work with community, business and government partners to protect our Forest City
- Take necessary actions to preserve our forested areas and wildlife habitat
- Preserve our existing green spaces, and ensure Landscaped Open Space is incorporated into new development
- Encourage and support residents who seek to naturalize their properties and citizen stewardship of public spaces
- Net zero tree removal program and establish a tree by-law that protects a diversity of tree species and young emerging strong saplings
- Where feasible, open boulevards to support healthier street trees
- Develop stormwater management systems that utilize biomimicry and low impact development techniques to protect our watersheds, sub watersheds, major tributaries, and creeks from wastewater discharge
- Accelerate London’s green bin program implementation
- Build more roundabout intersections where applicable
- Increase bike routes/lanes and make accessible to all Londoners
- Fully electrify public transportation
- Support efforts and incentives for super-insulation of homes and buildings
- Change building development requirements to incorporate energy conservation such as solar renewable energy, rooftops gardens and the reuse of greywater
